Change is coming

 

I'm sat in a cafe in Soho enjoying the sunshine and waiting for Laurence.

I'm having my usual writers block with this thing having set out to put down my thoughts on something I'm pretty sure is going to significantly change, if nothing else, Mercer family life.

My Sister is due to give birth to twins. She is huge and still has five weeks to go before due day. In fact she is so large she almost has her own gravitational pull.

Over the last few weeks they have been given temporary names... Lefty and Righty. God help them if that sticks! Mind you, it's better than 'Oi you!'

Sarah was pretty sure she didn't want to know the sex of the twins but due to some complications we now know Righty is a boy.

It is pretty amazing what they can tell from a scan, to me the pictures are like a deep sea sonar. To the doctor with the gizmo it's an enlarged kidney! So Righty may need some help at somepoint, probably a few weeks after delivery.

Fingers crossed, all will be fine.

Interestingly the more I think about it, the less likely this change is going to have a major impact on family life. Things change all the time. Children get added to the family as Grandparents one by one are taken away.

We've been a family full of traditions all along and I expect we will develop them on a little further as Lefty and Righty grow up.

Change... Bring it on!
