The final design of the stadium for the London 2012 Olympics was announced today.
When London won the bidding process for the 2012 games on 6/7/2005 the plan looked stunning. A wonderful, organic looking construction with orange like segments making the roof and a clever
reducible seating arrangement that can leave a "legacy" for future generations in the east of London.
It has taken them a couple of years to finalise the design. What a
disappointment!
Gone the beautiful lines of a world class building. Instead an over size drum. It looks like it will be built from a temporary scaffolding and lacks any form of inspiration.
Frustratingly, when we have so many great architects in this country, it takes an
American one to come up with something so mundane!
More annoyingly, its costing double the predicted £200 million!
Like the rubbish logo that
Seb Coe and friends are championing... London deserves much better than this!
