I spent far too long last night sat on a sun lounger under the beautifully clear skies looking up at the stars.
Once a year the Perseid meteor shower hits Earths atmosphere. At the rate of up to 100 an hour they shoot across the sky.
Its quite surprising how fast and bright they can be, but its very cool to watch. I tried to get some photos of the shooting stars and to say the least it was a difficult challenge. They always appeared where the camera wasn't pointing.
Surprisingly when I get back in doors and looked through the photos, you can make quite a few very feint trails where they zipped past. They are all on my flickr account.
