I made my annual pilgrimage to Alton Towers on Tuesday.
It gets more and more pricey to go, £35odd quid, but I think it is still worth it. Just.
There were no new rides this year, so Nemesis still holds the crown for the best thrill in the park. However Hex is a close second, not because its a white nuckle, but thanks to the look on punters faces as they try to work out what is going on.
I did find it interesting to look at the crowds. Living in the south east, at any major attraction you can expect to see a certain number (and in some cases huge number) of foreigners.
However, Alton Towers lacks that. I don't remember hearing one accent from somewhere not in the UK. I suppose it is partially due to location. London is a real draw for international tourists. The rest of the UK still has a long way to go to entice visitors from abroad.
